I am in the process of a self-discovery journey. I really don't know why it has taken me so many years to do this. I should have done this years ago. But the good thing about self-discovery is that no matter where you are in your life when you start, you will benefit from it.
Sometimes we can not fix the things in our lives that have been holding us back from success until we go on a self-discovery journey to figure out what those things are. Many times we live for twenty or thirty years experiencing the same failures because we have not addressed the things in our lives that are causing us to fail. Many times those failures come from our attitudes and expectations about ourselves. We just continue to live in the same rut and make the same mistakes expecting different outcomes when that kind of thinking is ludicrous. Why should we expect different results with the same activities?
We often keep ourselves from being successful by the things we focus on. If our focus is on how much in debt we are, how miserable our lives are, or how rotten our jobs are - guess what, by the law of self-fulfillment, we are only going to get those things that we are focusing on. We are going to get more in debt, more miserable in our relationships, and more unhappy with our jobs.
We must focus our thoughts on positive things. It will be difficult at first. It will feel unnatural, but we must learn to expect success, expect doors to open for us, expect relationships to improve, expect to get that promotion, expect our families to get along, expect the impossible!!
It will be a journey - a long journey for some of us. It has been a long journey for me and is not over yet. I have good days and bad days. I have days that I say, "This is bull" and want to give up and go back to my old ways of thinking. BUT I CAN NOT! I have come too far to give up now.
Get up every morning and look in the mirror and say, " This is going to be a great day. God is directing me and wants me to be successful. I am excited about this day that God has given me."
The first step to having the kind of life that you want is to think positive not negative thoughts. Focus on what you want not what you have. Try it for thirty days and write down the changes in your life.
